River and Coastal Modelling

Hydrotec & Engineering Consultants Limited has extensive experience in river and coastal modelling, including the development of 1D and 2D models and calibration and verification. Our work focuses on assessing fluvial, pluvial, and coastal flood risks as well as morphodynamics. We provide sustainable solutions to clients through comprehensive risk assessments that address uncertainties in accordance with the legislation and guidelines set by relevant authorities, such as the Environment Agency (EA), Local Planning Authority (LPA), Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA), and water companies. This includes compliance with standards such as the NPPF, TAN15, and SPP.

We have contributed to the Environment Agency's strategic flood risk management (SFRM) by preparing flood mapping outlines for flood zones 1, 2, and 3. Our work includes project appraisal optioneering studies, as well as flood mitigation and alleviation schemes. Additionally, we assist local authorities in developing Surface Water Management Plans (SWMPs), performing flood forecasting, and conducting flood risk assessments to protect and maintain existing assets against challenges such as climate change, wave overtopping, and embankment breaches.
